Soaring Eagles
The Writing Company hit a home run when it was commissioned by the City of Newark to prepare a special publication for its Black History Month Celebration, which commemorated the players of the Negro Baseball Leagues. TWC researched, wrote and designed a historic overview filled with an in-depth narrative, vintage photos and fun facts that brought to life the local history of segregated baseball. The publication, called Soaring Eagles: Newark and the Negro Leagues, told the story of the Negro Leagues from the perspective of a city that hosted four of its teams during the segregated era. Soaring Eagles was recognized with a Communicator Silver Award for Publication Excellence
Pathmark Gospel Choir Competition
TWC prepared a commemorative publication for Pathmark Supermarkets' annual Gospel Choir Competition held at New York City's Grand Central Station. The publication included features on the competition, the evening's featured artist, Grammy Award-winner Marvin Sapp, and capsule biographies on gospel music's most famous names. Our firm also prepared a brief history of the gospel genre as well as a historical timeline and even a crossword puzzle based on the booklet's articles. The package was designed using the theme "Heavenly Voices."
Smoot Village Grand Opening
The Writing Company served as special events coordinator for the gala grand opening Smoot Village, a 134-unit townhome development constructed in the second phase of the Paterson Housing Authority's $70 million Hope VI program. Our effort on the project included writing, design and production of the event logo, event invitations, press packages and event program. TWC was also responsible for media outreach and such logistics as refreshments, tent and furnishings for this successful event. |
